R.I.P. Marvin Hamlisch

Legendary composer Marvin Hamlisch passed away on August 7 at the age of 68 from a brief illness.

Mr. Hamlisch has won almost every award there is three Oscars, four Grammys, four Emmys, a Tony and three Golden Globe awards.

He won a Tony Award for composing the score to "A Chorus Line." His other theatrical worked inlcuded one of my favorite musicals "They're Playing Our Song," as well as "Jean Seberg," "Smile," "The Goodbye Girl," and "Sweet Smell of Success."

In addition the theatre, Mr. Hamlisch composed the score for more than 40 film scores, including "Sophie's Choice," "Ordinary People" and "Take the Money and Run." 

He also was the boy Gilda Radner wooed over in her "Nerd" skits on "Saturday Night Live."

Mr. Hamlisch was currently working on "The Nutty Professor," which recently opened in Tennesse.

His musical genius will sorely be missed as well as what yet to come!
