In the words of Varla Jean Merman, "I may not remember you, but you will remember me," and remember her I will! On Sunday, September 4, 2011 I saw Varla's latest show "The Book of Merman" at The Art House in Provincetown, MA, with Tom Judson on piano. This funny, original, smart show follows Varla in her quest of wanting to write books, hence "The Book of Merman." One of the best parts about Varla's show is that she sings LIVE! With genius lyrics, Varla parodies some of music's biggest hits including Bon Jovi's "Livin' On A Prayer" and "Rihanna's "California King Bed."
Combinging song, comedy, and audience interaction, Varla gets everyone laughing. She has many talents and the stage presecnce to keep the audience engaged. With multiple one-liners, Varla's quick wit and spontaneity, is always welcomed with open arms. In addition to Varla's great vocals, live singing, and skilled ukulele playing, she is a step above of some of the other acts out there. Varla also gets big companies to sponsor her shows which allows her to create bigger and well produced videos to go along with her shows.
