Ryan O'Connor Eats His Feelings

Design Credit: Robbie Rozelle"Ryan O'Connor Eats His Feelings" is an inspiring show about success, living your dream, and loving yourself! Ryan takes you on his journey from lonliness to love, from over-eating to control, and from loss to acceptance. He does all of this with humor, heart, and most of talent! While much of his material comes from a place of real hurt, Ryan has found the ability within himself to take that hurt and make it funny, not just ha-ha funny, but burst out laughing, sometimes snorting your nose funny!

As I went on Ryan's journey, I found myself fascinated and moved that the man standing before me could overcome so much and celebrate his life in such a grand way! Using comedy, song, and visuals, Ryan has a real talent to make others laugh, even if he is the joke. Ryan's vocals are big, powerful, controlled, and most of all enjoyable to listen to. He can take a moment and make it even bigger just by opening up his mouth.

I attended this show on it's opening night, Monday, May 2 and what made this night even more special were Ryan's special guests, the hilarious Susan Blackwell (from [title of show]) and the incomparable talent and vocals of Katie Thompson! Susan was brought to the stage to do a one on one interview with Ryan and in classic Susan style, she triumphed as always. Susan is fast on her feet and says some of the funniest things I've ever heard and a lot of it is just in her facial expressions. Katie and Ryan have a long history together, so it was quite a delight to have Katie dazzle us with her voice! Katie and Ryan worked together on Katie's show "R.R.R.E.D. A Secret Musical" when it premiered in California and then Katie wrote "The Oprah Song" for "Ryan O'Connor Eats His Feelings." Katie took to the stage and sang a song from "R.R.R.E.D." that was right in sync with the show...a humorous song all about being overweight.

Ryan O'Connor knows many things. He knows how to be funny, he knows his audience, and most of all he knows how to accept himself and shine brightly! So, if you are looking for a night of laughter, inspiration, and enjoyment, check out "Ryan O'Connor Eats His Feelings" at the Laurie Beechman Theatre in NYC (407 West 42nd Street, between 9th & 10th Avenue) every Monday through May 23 at 9:30pm.
