Call Answered: Sonia Blangiardo: Tainted Dreams on Amazon

Sonia BlangiardoI was a HUGE All My Children fan. I started watching the show because Eden Riegel's character "Bianca" was going to be coming out as a lesbian. From the first moment I watched that storyline I was hooked. I then became engulfed in everyone's storyline from "Greenlee and Leo" to the return of "Kendall" to "Krystal and Babe" to the start of "Fusion," I was loving every moment.

In 2013, I first got wind of a new show being developed called Tainted Dreams, directed and produced by Sonia Blangiardo, and starring All My Children's Alicia Minshew, Michael Lowry, Terri Ivens, Walt Willey, and Bobbie Eakes. I couldn't wait to see this show. After four years of waiting, Tainted Dreams has found a home on Amazon (now Emmy nominated)! In addiiton to the above, Tainted Dreams also features Natalia Livingston, Austin Peck, Colleen Zenk, Grant Aleksander, theatre favorite Anthony Wilkinson, along with a host of other soap stars. If you are a soap fan, Tainted Dreams is the show for you! Watch it now on Amazon!

Come behind-the-drama to find out the real stories that made Sonia such a success + the tales that helped create Tainted Dreams!

For more on Tainted Dreams be sure to visit http://tainteddreams.com and follow the show on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram!

Cast of "All My Children"1. Who or what inspired you to become director/producer? Ever since I can remember, I always was creating stories in my head. One year when I was about nine, my brother, cousins and I were vacationing together. I sketched out a musical with six or seven performances and I forced them to put on a "show" for our family. I can't imagine it was very good! I don't think I could have even begun to understand what directing and producing was at the time, but in retrospect, I think the inspiration came from an overactive imagination and a need to be in charge!

2. Most people are lucky to work on one television show, but you have had the good fortune of working on five iconic soap operas All My Children, One Life to Live, As the World Turns, General Hospital & currently, Days of Our Lives. What do you enjoy most about working in the soap world? Everything...I love the genre, the pace, the efficiency of the way we work...I love that we keep telling stories with characters that have been a part of our lives for many years. I love that day in and day out you get to work with the same group of people that truly are your family and we get to create. We are all there for each other during our milestones in life...weddings, births, birthdays...it is a unique and beautiful experience.

3. In addition to Days of Our Lives, you are also the creator/director of the new Emmy nominated web series Tainted Dreams, about the twists and turns of life on a soap opera. What made you want to create this show? They say write what you know and this was a world I felt that I knew pretty well. I truly believed that at times, what was happening behind the camera was more fascinating that in front. I also wanted to show how much fun we had. We worked in a creative, yet structured environment. I don't think any other genre can say this. Going to work every day to see my "family" was a amazing part of my life and I thought that was something that would appeal to the audiences. I am so thrilled that thanks to Amazon, these stories can finally be seen.

4. I was attracted to Tainted Dreams because of Alicia Minshew and Terri Ivens, whom I LOVED on All My Children as well as Walt Willey and Bobbie Eakes. The show also casts actors from other soaps you worked on and the world of theatre. What is the best part about getting to work with everyone under one roof? The beauty of creating something that is your own is that you get to make the decisions. I've been doing this for a very long time and I knew I wanted to surround myself with talented, kind and generous people and I hit the jackpot on that. As far as working with my off-Broadway cast, they are also my family, so it was always a given that I would blend the "families." Anthony Wilkinson who plays "Anthony DiGiacomo" is the playwright of the Big Gay Italian franchise and my real life "Angelica's" Anthony, so upon the first inception of the idea, he was always going to be a main character because I wanted to showcase that friendship.

Sonia Blangiardo, Michael Lowry, and Alicia Minshew5. Alicia's character, "Angelica," is loosely based upon you. What qualities did you see in Alicia that made you go, she would be a great "Angelica"? I did not know Alicia when I was creating the character of "Angelica" for over a year. For whatever reason, the more I flushed out the story, the more I kept seeing her in my head. When I finally met her to ask her to be a part of Tainted Dreams, it all clicked and I understood why. We clicked. Alicia is strong, yet sweet. She can be vulnerable without ever compromising on integrity. It was one of those things that can't really be explained. I just knew she was "Angelica."

6. I love how the show weaves between the fictitious soap opera Painted Dreams and what's really happening on Tainted Dreams, it's a fine, fine line, sometimes being hard to tell where the fiction ends and reality begins. When has there been a time in your life when the lines between fiction and reality were blurred? I'm sure there are many more than I care to admit! I've always called Tainted Dreams the Grey's Anatomy that occurs in a soap studio instead of a hospital. Lines get blurred in life all the time, especially in the work environment. When you add that you are spending 60 plus hours a week with the same people, telling stories about power, sex and betrayal...it's kind of inevitable that you get caught up in that.

Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos as "Haley and Mateo" on "All My Children"7. Since I was such a big All My Children fan, what was one of your favorite story lines from your time working on the show and what was one story line that you were like, this is the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen, let's wrap it up"? Wow...there are so many. I think one of my favorites was the tornado one which left "Julia" blind. The "Noah/Julia" story line was real and gut-wrenching and just so memorable, another was "Brooke's" ectopic pregnancy. Julia and Michael poured their souls into that one and you just felt their pain. "Alec" sleeping with "Arlene" behind "Hayley's'" back...as you can see, the list goes on. I don't know about a story that I wanted to see wrapped up, but I do remember shooting on Valentine's Day at midnight, a very very pregnant Kelly Ripa getting raped. That disturbed me on so many levels!

8. You have worked with some of daytimes biggest hunks. If you could have been cast as their lover, who would you have wanted to been matched up with? In my 25 plus years, I have seen a multitude of gorgeous men and women. So much so that after a while, you almost become immune to it. What connects me to people in general is their kindness and generosity of spirit. Because of that, I am lucky to call many of the "hunks" I've worked with good friends because beyond the great looks, they are amazing people.

Sonia Blangiardo9. What has been the biggest event to happen in your life that could have been a soap opera storyline? I saw many things happen behind the scenes that quite honestly, without revealing names have made it into Tainted Dreams. Personally, I took a vacation to Miami with two of my AMC besties and one friend wanted to go to another club. It was 2am and I asked her if I could just run up to the room to change my ridiculously high heeled shoes. She wanted no part of that and tapped an arbitrary guy walking in front of her and asked him to pick me up and carry me to the club. He did and we ended up being together for six years.

10. On "Call Me Adam" I have a section called One Percent Better, where through my own fitness commitment, I try to encourage people to improve their own life by one percent every day. What is something in your life that you want to improve by one percent better every day? I want to learn the virtue of patience. Sometimes there are so many things going on in my head that I want to have the option of pressing an escape button for about 10 minutes and just think of nothing. I need answers yesterday and that is not always possible for sure.

Call Answered: Hailey Sole: Criminal Minds and Netflix's Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp

Hailey Sole, Photo Credit: Kenda BenwardI am big fan of young actresses! They are our next generation of talent! When Hailey Sole was presented to me to interview, I jumped at this opportunity. This young starlet already has a resume of hit shows under her belt Criminal Minds, Private Practice, The Middle, and Parks and Recreation. What makes me even more excited about Hailey is that she is starring on the new Netflix series Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp, which will be debuting on Netflix on July 31! She is in great company as you'll see below! So, sit back, relax, and get to know Hailey Sole!

For more on Hailey follow her on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram!

1. Who or what inspired you to become an actress? When I was really little I would have my friends come over, and all I wanted to do was preform or do skits. Eventually my parents realized that I really liked acting and decided to put me in an acting workshop in Texas, where I am originally from. A couple of agencies were there and they liked me so they called me out to California. During that first visit to California, I was sent out on an audition by one of the agencies. I ended up booking my first audition, which turned out to be a recurring role for three seasons on a show called Private Practice. I loved working on the show, and I’ve been in acting ever since.

2. Your latest role is starring in Netflix's newest series Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp alongside Amy Poehler, Jon Hamm, Kristen Wiig, David Hyde Pierce, Bradley Cooper, Molly Shannon, 'Weird Al' Yankovic, Janeane Garofalo, Jason Schwartzman, Paul Rudd, Christopher Meloni, Michael Ian Black, Elizabeth Banks, Chris Pine, and my friend John Early. It's one big name after another! What did you learn from working beside such an A list group of actors? One big thing I learned from working with all these amazing actors was to have fun, don’t hold back when acting, and give it your all. I learned not to worry about other people’s opinions, and to be proud of what I do. No matter what, you should play your role the best you can, and have fun with it as well.

3. Aside from this extraordinary cast, what made you want to be part of this series? One thing is, I love Netflix, and secondly, I haven’t really done much comedy in my acting career. So I thought this would be a great chance to really stretch my acting abilities, and learn from the best! I’m always up for trying new things, so doing this show was definitely a great opportunity to do just that.

Hailey Sole on the set of "Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp"4. What do you identify most with about your character "Amy"? I identify most with the character "Amy" in how she acts towards other people. "Amy" tries to be friends with everyone, and I try to do that in my personal life as well.

5. You have already been on several network TV shows. Do you feel the filming process was different for Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp compared to the network shows you were on? The filming process for WHAS was a bit different than other shows I’ve been on. For starters, since this is a crazy comedy film, there was a lot more improve than what you would see in a show like Criminal Minds, where we stuck to the script pretty tightly. Secondly, we shot the entire series for WHAS completely outdoors, which I’ve never done that before on any other show.

6. Some of the network shows you've been on were Criminal Minds, Private Practice, and Ghost Whisperer: The Other Side. What did you enjoy most about being on these shows? I enjoy being able to try new things and push the boundaries of my acting a little more every time. Each job you work on is a learning experience, and to be able to work on each show is a blessing. I’m so happy I’ve had that opportunity.

Hailey Sole on the set of "Criminal Minds"7. In addition to your acting career, you are also a full time student in school. How do you balance the two and still be an honor student? What is it like to be a working actress going to school? Balancing school, acting and other things I like to do like cheer and musicals can be demanding, but it requires a lot of coordinating and time management. I definitely wouldn’t be able to do all that I do, and maintain the grades that I have, if it wasn’t for all those around me who support me, and contribute to making this all happen, like my agent, manager, teachers, parents, coaches, and friends.

8. In your free time, you enjoy sining with your friends. Do you have aspirations to take that singing to a higher level and come to Broadway or record an album? What do you love about singing that you don't get from acting? I haven’t really thought of singing as a career, but just as a way for me to express myself. Although, I do enjoy being in my schools musicals and being on Broadway would be an amazing dream come true. I guess for now I’ll just keep a singing career on the back burner for the future.

9. What's the best advice you've ever received? The best advice I have ever received was being told to believe in myself and stick with acting. There was one time in my career where I didn’t book any auditions for an entire year, and it was really getting upsetting. My manager called me one day and told me that everyone goes through this but the most important thing to do is to stick with acting, because your time will come. Just don’t give up on yourself and push through because hard work pays off. And the next year, I started booking more auditions again.

10. If you could have any super power, which one would you choose? I know it sounds cliché but I would probably choose to be able to fly. I just think that being able to fly would be so cool because I could go anywhere super fast and I wouldn’t have to wait in traffic, which would be great!!

Hailey SoleMore on Hailey:

Call Redialed: Jay William Thomas: Easy Laughter

Jay William Thomas"Call Me Adam" catches up with actor Jay William Thomas. This time around we talk about Robert Shearman's Easy Laughter which is presented by Dirt [contained] Theatre Company from April 30-May 10 at The Alchemical Theatre Laboratory in NYC (104 West 14th Street). Click here for tickets!

For more on Jay be sure to visit http://www.jwilliamthomas.com and follow him on Facebook!

1. What made you want to be part of Easy Laughter? I was drawn to the dark humor and subtle absurdity of what was written on the page. As we have fleshed out these characters in rehearsal the humor shines through with a bitter knife ready on the other side to cut that laughter short.

2. What do you identify most with about your character? My character is very intellectual and calculated. I identify with his measured approach to all situations.

3. What do you hope audiences come away with after seeing Easy Laughter? I hope audiences come out of the play with questions about the world they just witnessed. The extremes of this play are extreme, but everything is rooted in the real fear of the State. It makes for interesting conversation.

4. What has been the best part about rehearsing and getting ready for the run of this play? Everyone in the cast is hilarious. They bring such incredible energy and subtlety to their characters. It’s a pleasure to listen and laugh at every rehearsal.

5. What do you like about working with Dirt [contained] Theatre Company? Dirt [contained] has found a way to bridge the gap between the artistic and business models that every company strives for. They are smart and they are passionate. They don’t settle and they have awesome taste.

Cast of "Easy Laughter", Michael Broadhurst, Nick DeMatteo, Jay William Thomas, Tana Sirois, and Maria Swisher6. Easy Laughter is a dark and twisted comedy that explores an alternate reality full of not-so-natural selection, xenophobia, fundamentalism, extreme gender roles and censorship, while expertly revealing a subtler horror story surrounding the lies that families tell each other and the lengths they will go to protect themselves through laughter. Was there ever time in your life when you told a lie to protect the ones you love? Yes. I think we all want to protect our loved ones. This play really asks if we do things for love or for duty, the duty determined by the world we live in...in that world are we allowed to question our actions when those actions don’t agree with us?

7. If you could dream about anyone while you sleep, who would it be? Why you of course, Adam, ha ha…or perhaps about the time my grandfather took me hiking in the Appalachian mountains.

8. If you could create your own signature drink, what would you call it and what ingredients would you put in it? It would be called "BubbleGuts" and would be a cross between Pepto-Bismol and pop rocks for your stomach.

9. Favorite way to spend your day off? Laying in bed with someone you love.

10. Boxers or Briefs? Briefs.
